Airpel offers four forms of blade type Self Cleaning Filter (SCF), all working on the same basic principle. In-coming fluid passes through a wedgewire or perforated element before exiting the filter body. The debris is trapped on the outside of the element. The micron rating of the element is the spacing of the wedgewire or the diameter of the perforations. As debris collects on the outside of the element and progressively blocks the openings, the differential pressure increases. The element is cleaned by rotating it against a pair of stationary scraper blades. These scraper blades lift the debris from the element and the debris tends to move down the channel formed by the blade shield. The effects of gravity then cause the debris to sink into the sump of the filter, where it can be periodically drained.
The Airpel Self Cleaning Filters can be cleaned without disrupting the liquid flow. Because the element cleaning operation is independent of the debris draining operation a number of cleaning cycles can be performed before it is necessary to drain the debris from the filter sump. Liquid loss is therefore minimized. (Some operators, especially those on batch pro-duction, do not drain the filter during the batch run. This eliminates the liquid loss until the final wash-out of the process pipework.)
Airpel Self Cleaning Filters can be manually operated, fully automated, or motorized only (electric or pneumatic). The Self Cleaning Filters can be used on fluids of all viscosities. Filtration from 50 microns and up.
